                                                                 High School Prep Class

Mission

The jump from middle school to high school can be difficult for
some students. To prepare students for difficult classes, the
Boston Music Institute will offer a high school preparatory class.
The class will follow the textbooks Word Within the Word, and
the Magic Lens, as well as separate math materials. These
textbooks are specifically designed for students preparing for
challenging high school reading, writing, and math.

Class Overview
The class will use the textbooks The Word Within the Word, the Magic Lens, and a separate math
curriculum. The Magic Lens is a high school
preparatory textbook that prepares students to
analyze difficult readings and texts at an advanced
high school level. It teaches grammar rules and offers
writing tips. The Word Within the Word prepares
students for difficult high school reading vocabulary by
teaching Greek and Latin roots and stems, as well as high school vocabulary words that will
allow students to better comprehend challenging writing. The math curriculum will be a Pre-
