Artistic Director/ Kyoko Horowitz. Born in Japan, Kyoko Horowitz has spent a lifetime dedicated to the art of the violin. Winner of several major competitions at a young age, she has concertized extensively across the world. The idea for BMI came from a personal hunger to help students succeed after her experiences attending conservatories at the Sibelius Academy in Finland and the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler in Berlin, Germany and later teaching in the United States. Careful observation showed her some keys to overcoming various pressing challenges and hurdles. She believes that if students are connected with the specific teacher with experience not just in their instrument, but in the particular part of the profession that is relevant to them, their path to professional success could be made shorter and more effective.

Director of Development/ Helen Zhang. A native Bostonian, Helen developed a love for music at a young age when her parents introduced her to the keyboard. She graduated from Boston College with a BA in History and General Education, and began her career in nonprofit development. Through BMI, Helen is able to combine all of her passions in the city she loves.
